real?
My lthoughts week have wondered to a new topic, one i have never really thought about a whole lot just accepted the words, and that is being real as chrisitian or in geanral. I think its a hard one to preach about or even talk about in away, I think it turns into can i turn myself into a real christian or how can i make myself real. Does it really happen that way? And for me it has always been a simple answer of walking with God. But when a pastor says it, or as for myself i read an article on the internet and the journalist talked about this culture and being real. So i think the main question is what is really being real? and how do u become this real everyone talks about? what defines real?

Hmmm....good question. I guess for me, being real means being honest with God and others about who you are. Not trying to 'cover up' who you really are or when you fall and do things that perhaps aren't the best 'example of what it means to be a christian'. No one is perfect, we are all human, and we all fall short. I think that being a christian isn't trying to act like we have it all together, because we don't. But as you mentioned, walking with God day by day, being honest with Him about our challenges and struggles is part of what it means to be real.
For me being real is being myself, and being the best example of who Christ is , as He chooses to use me. Good thoughts.
real...is not pretend. Real is being the same person at all times. Is it? Real doesn't try to match up to other peoples standards just because you want them to approve. Real is...a variable. People see 'real' differently. But nowadays, that's the same for everything.
I agree with all of you ... in the end I think the word real is funny when used in this context though
I think real means learning to detatch yourself from what other people expect of you. Being real doesn't happen until you realize how important other peoples opinions of you are to your self image.
We are always looking to please people, but we were created to please God. Since we lost the intimate relationship with God that Adam had, we resorted to trying to please other people to fill this gap.
Real happens when we start trying to please our Creator rather than the people around us. People are impossible to please because all people expect different things of us, which is why it becomes so confusing sometimes I think. It's simpler living to please one person, Jesus.
But remember, pleasing people, and loving people are only somewhat related.
Yes, I agree with all of your opinions! But doens't it ever seem kind of hard? why is it always a struggle? Will we ever get to a point where we can just live or is living always having something to work on.. I guess it would get kind of boring if we didn't have anything to work on but I think it's just kind of tiring after a while! How do you get to that point where you are just real and you're living to please Jesus?-our true purpose..
